It's pretty much a fictionalized version of the French and Indian war on both sides. You can really sense how brutal life was at the time, and how the Indians lived better than a lot of the white settlers.

IMO: The most beautiful movie picture about Wild West (but some naive) with brilliant music on soundtrack. I just love it all, but especially this one part of it.

Great movie, and fairly historically accurate. Does any know for SURE where the "end scene" was filmed? I know the credits say Asheville,N.C. I believe that the lacrosse scene was filmed in Upstate NY, which is rich in Native American history.
