This shows that animals should not be in captivity. The officer had no choice but to kill it. This resulted in the death of a human being and a rare Siberian tiger. This all could have been avoided had the tiger been free.

89% of all animals in captivity cannot survive in the wild and thats why they are LOOKED AFTER and kept alive in captivity. Most are found as babies and would die if left in the wild. Also id like to add that nearly all captivity centres like zoos and so on collect donations in which over 70% goes to funding wild activities and people who help the animals in the wild. So not only are zoos etc helping animals which would die in the wild they are also funding support for the animals in the wild.

Im not talking about illegal tiger owners etc and small zoos in some countries, im talking about major zoos and centres. The cause is man himself cutting their homes down, killing them for their skins etc, zoos are doing nothing but trying their best to help species! Captivity is a great thing. Do you know over 50% of a few specific species were born in captivity from their parents who were saved and the babies were released into the wild thus saving that particular species from extinction.

Id like all the animals to be wild and free but its not going to happen, zoos etc are a must to help species survive and not go extinct, thats the sad reality but the fact is zoos and captivity are helping, it isnt like the olden days anymore! they are needed. Most save adults which would otherwise die or babys from the wild and breed them to introduce the babies from them into the wild. Its poachers and bad humans you want to have a go at! not zoos that protect animal species. Anyway, lol bye.

okay, i've now seen the report about them idiots taunting the tiger. it's sad one person lost his life for his idiot friends to learn their lesson. even sadder that the tiger had to be killed to avoid any more deaths. it's just a tragic waste of life that should have never happened, but props to the cops who had to make that ultimate choice that none of us were in the position to make. i guess it's one of those things u had to be there. i'm glad i wasn't.

Without zoos, that tiger species would be extinct from poachers, 3 tiger species have gone extinct in the last 40 years, and one is nearly extinct in the wild, but it will not go extinct thanks to zoos. So Zoos are a good thing for people to be educated about animals and to preserve certain species.

these animals aren't taken from the wild,they're bred in captivity to preserve numbers,they know nothing else,it's not like they sit there thinking "god i miss siberia or pakistan"!i should be swimming with dolphins in the bahama's,other people do,but i've never been so don't yearn for it and am quite happy living in my rented 3 bedroom here in the uk,the tiger escaped and killed a young man,i understand what you're saying but there'd be none left in the wild if it wasn't for zoo's.

Good point. Wasn't a smart move by the kids. I heard on the news report that they were antagonizing the tiger. Not saying they deserved what they got, but if I were a big cat inside an enclosure and having to take $hit from punks I know I could destroy with one swipe of my paw, I'd be miffed and want to act out as well. Its a shame that these animals are close to extinction. Magnificent animals they are.

they're my favourite animal on the planet,there's nothing more awesome in my eyes,it's true people should admire them and not antagonise them,i could never afford to see these animals in the wild,and i'd probably kak myself if i ever did,so the closest i've ever been is at a zoo,they have a captive breeding program there,until you've stood near one you don't realise how magnificent they are!thanks for the reply,have a great day.
