Cant understand why this guy never made it in UK.... I know the motown stuff was seen as alien and Dusty Springfield even had a show on British TV trying to showcase some of it, so i can understand why it never appealed and they generally didnt get/understand most of it... but for this guy playing rock n roll (which is a universal genre) to be unfashionable i dont get.. and if you dared like him you were seen as uncool.

if all you think this is is "marketing", then you sir are a horrible judge of honesty and talent. I legitimately believe that this man, this "creation of marketing", is not only himself in every song, he is a normal american. If anything, all these rappers, and stupid r&b singers are the fakes. So if you think wanting to find out if love is real is somehow mediocre, then I pity you, for you will never know living till you truly appreciate the heart, soul and talent this man and his band have.

Err back in the real world...BBC poll Brits top 100 fave songs and no motown record were in top 20 and barely any in the top 100, if you knew your music history you'd also know that Dusty Springfield had a TV show in UK in late 60's tryin to familiarise Brits with black/motown such was the huge lack of interest/understanding..alien, you ask people about aretha franklin or marvin gaye..what did they do?. Springsteen.."naff" is the term British rock fans refer to him as and he didnt feature at all
