Poslao: lliberopoulou
Opis:
This is the well know incident between William Buckley and Gore Vidal that occurred during ABC's coverage of the 1968 Democratic convention in Chicago. This version has slightly better sound quality and syncronization.

his understanding of economics is pathetic; and his analysis of geopolitics is even worse.
he claims america is bankrupt. it is not. her ability to tap funds through bonds markets is the strongest in the west. therefore, she will be able to continue to fight in iraq and afghanistan for the medium-long term.
moreover, us human capital is one of the highest in the world. this will ensure the US remains a leading economy.
the latter will continue because of america's ability to tap bond markets - this can delay the need for taxes, which has pretty much been the case for the last 8 years.
private personal debt, due to excess private demand, is a major problem. but america will replace a private demand driven economy with an export driven one, as the imbalances in the world economy balance out.
Takes away from his point.Last words of a lost argument.Or first words if intimidation is his tool.Either way he lost.
I know that Vidal's comments struck a nerve in Buckley, but if Buckley hadn't called Vidal a Nazi, Vidal surely wouldn't have called him one back.
I like the Norman Mailer V Gore Vidal battle royal on the Dick Cavett show a little better.
