bowhuntergeorge: Japan thought the US would sue for peace if dealt a harsh blow (Pearl Harbor). Germany and Italy had to declare war on the US due to a treaty protecting the Axis powers. The US was not a superpower back then - no real Army or Air Force - and the Axis thought we could be defeated fairly easily. It was sure a different world back then.

is everyone here on ...( 10 months ago by leebilodeau)
is everyone here on crack, any historian would know the russians had far superior machines, more easily mass produced and far more reliable then the tiger, the tiger was an easy target for planes, troops and hard on fuel, an expensive overrated weapon, the t34 now that won the war on the eastern front, the tiger lost it, why to hard to produce in enough quantity, took to much fuel, to slow and got stuck to easy,

The Germans didn't ...( 10 months ago by clubtcb)
The Germans didn't think it trough when they made the tiger series. Although it's heavy armour and powerful main gun made it an dangerous foe. It's heavy weight was it's major drawback. It consumed huge amounts of fuel 500L/100km (something Germany was always in short supply off). The drivetrain wasn't well suited for the engine this caused many breakdowns. And it was slow. So this tank wasn't very effective in an offensive role. And tanks weren't meant to be used as a deffensive weapon

no, but you are certainly on LSD. Put it this way, T34 and a Tiger both in Optimum condition, who would win the battle? The Tiger. Yes, it was not really what Germany needed but where ever the Tiger divisions were, the conditions improved for the defenders.

you are right in a wai m8 rusian tank mass production low cost easy to build but that is not the best tank and history prove that tiger and panter whas the best tank ever in ww2 the aliat army agree with that if you now sow much history you must now that a tiger destroy 10 t-34 the prob of tiger and panter is low production not the tehnology or power in fact in this day steel a german tank is the best in the world leopard all agree with that

Be realistic, ...( 10 months ago by Gehniss)
Be realistic, Soviet machines were built under the most primitive conditions, their finish was primitive, yet they were effecient for what they were designed for. As for the Tiger I and II, I think you would have to look at the political conditions that were respondible for their design. As for being an easy target, their mobility was equal to or better than most allied equipment what was lacking was proper training.

Tactics I would say would be the determining factor as to who would win. The t-34 while crude was effective in capable hands. I think like most tanks of the time size could also translate into psychological effectiveness against ifnantry.

Indeed, the tiger tank needed to be transported over the railway system, wich too heavy blows from the allied air raids. Mind you though, that the King Tiger made a powerfull stand in the ardennen offensive and was generaly feared by everyone that would encounter it. Also, the germans were superb shooters, mainly deu to the superior sights over there russian and american counterparts.
