On various specials on tv over the years, I do recall Dean saying that Mills and Russ were big influences on him. I think Sinatra is often quoted as having Bing as his idol. My mother in law recalls seeing Frank at the old Paramount Theatre here in NYC when he was starting out. Must have been big like Elvis. Love all their stuff. True originals, full of talent. I also love the Beach Boys and always got a kick out of knowing that Carl Wilson's second wife's father was Dean Martin.

Well i cant say im surprised. I just started listening to Russ Columbo's stuff and the first thing that i thought (other than the obvious "he sounds like Bing") was that I could imagine Dean liking this guys style, after all this guy was before Deans Time. Calm and smooth like Dean too. Too bad he died young. I really like columbo's style.
